The Blessing of the Father

Yesterday I made another trip to the country ( seems my best place for photography!). I was taking the usual photographs of flowers and landscapes. Hoping to get something wonderful. As I was out looking at God's beautiful creation, marveling in the majesty of it all. Knowing that this world is tainted by decay and sin because of the fall of man, and seeing how beautiful it still is, makes you just long to see in all in it's perfect glory. What wonderful grace we are given everyday to behold such beauty!

I have been asking God to give me the privilege of getting something truly wonderful to display His majestic artistic creativity. Longing for weeks now to get a photograph of a dragonfly, seeing them everywhere but not being able capture one, my heart pleaded with the Father. Knowing that while I was one of His children, He is high and holy and doesn't just bend to our every whim.

We came upon thick brush, knew that behind that was a little pond. I made my way through the branches. When we made it through this what we saw.  A beautiful little pond teaming with life. Frogs, cat tails, tall grass, and dragonflies!!

What a wonderfully gracious Lord. How loving and mindful He is of our desires.

There was a lovely blue one, flying around and stopped long enough to let me get a couple of shots.

There was the beautiful green one as well. What a splendid gift from my Lord. Since we know he is in control of every living creature, I know that was a blessing from Him. What a wonderful reminder of how He loves us, and loves to bless us. We also need to recognize when it happens and not take it for granted.

Mat 7:11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Until That day....

Yesterday I visited the country, taking my camera along, knowing I would have opportunity to capture some beautiful photographs. We came upon some cows in a field, knowing that it would make for a photograph much different from my usually style, I happily walked toward them to take a shot.

Then one saw me, and sounded the alarm. They all began to run away, "moo-ing" to one another.

As I watched them flee, the verse came to mind:

-The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every bird of the heavens, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea. Gen. 9:2

Instantly I realized it is because of us, the sin of mankind, how it is a weight and a burden to all of creation. I think we tend to think of it when we get sick, or someone dies. We meditate on how the whole of creation is subject to death and decay because sin entered the world. But little things we encounter every day like an animal seeing us and running away, do we realize the impact of that? My heart broke, my eyes filled with tears as I became hyper-aware of this fact, there is something broken with creation, it isn't how it's supposed to be.

But there is hope!

"The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; their young shall lie down together; the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. In that day the root of Jesse, who shall stand as a a signal for the peoples-- of him shall the nations inquire, and his resting place shall be glorious. Isa 11:6-10"

For those who are in Christ, one day it will be set right, until that day...
